World-class singing champ Reymond Sajor has won the “producers’ pick” episode of A Song of Praise (ASOP) Music Festival in the second week of August with his original composition, “Bala”, performed on stage by l-Axe vocalist Jek Manuel.
The dynamic music of “Bala” makes it a powerful marching song that reflects on God’s love as ammunition against the challenges to one’s faith.
The composer, a member of the vocal ensemble 5th Gen, is one of many ASOP interpreters who ventured into songwriting. He interpreted “Dinggin Mo Oh Dios”, ASOP Year 4’s September Song of the Month and “Awit Ng Mga Awit”, ASOP Year 2 grand finalist song.
According to Sajor, he grew more inspired in writing praise songs. “It was a dream come true for me since it’s my first-ever winning gospel song,” he added.
Meanwhile, interpreter Jek Manuel expressed appreciation for the worship anthem. He said that “Bala” was different from all the praise songs he interpreted in ASOP. The music fuels the energy to his stage performance.
Resident judge Mon “Doktor Musiko” del Rosario and guest judges, Jungee Marcelo and Tina Paner were all impressed by the hard-hitting vocals of Jek Manuel, the song’s high-energy tunes and the overall appeal of the praise song.
The entry was all-set for the Monthly Finals this August.
