With its beautiful recall, good melodic sensibility, and contemporary rock genre that perfectly matched the interpreter, it was no surprise that Edmund Perlas’ ”You’re My Everything” emerged victorious at ASOP’s Producer’s Pick episode for the month of April.
Perlas’ composition, performed by Dan Billano, trumped two other returning competitors namely Joshua Carias’ “Mananatiling Katapatan performed by Shanne Velasco; and Jaime Vasquez’s “Alab ng Puso” interpreted by Voice of Bacoor Champion Janafe Menguito.
More on Edmund Perlas and his composition, “You’re My Everything” was a contender in the November Monthly Finals Night but missed winning. It was written four years ago and was the very first song Perlas wrote sans knowledge on playing any musical instruments and formal training in songwriting.
Resident judge Mon ‘Doktor Musiko’ del Rosario and guest judges Jaya and Dingdong Avanzado suggested a slight alteration on its lyrical content to improve its clarity and storytelling. In terms of melodic structure, judges didn’t find anything else against it.
Perlas and Billano will be back next week to compete, once again, for the Monthly Finals.
