Episode 188/ Aired April 26
Fresh from a remarkable win at the Producer’s Pick episode last week, “Dakila Ka Ama,” by 22-year old mother Ella Mae Septimo, continued its winning streak by besting 2 other fan favorites for the Song of the Month title.
Other entries included “Ngayong Nandito ka by Australia-based composer/structural engineer Paul Escano and “Salamat Sa’yo,” by Batangas composer Jay Llamera.
Declared by resident judge “Doktor Musiko,” Mon del Rosario as one of the hardest episodes for its neck and neck competition, Sunday’s entries were all strong contenders with bold melodic structures and golden lyrics.
However, Ella Mae’s piece stood out for the level of difficulty in its melodic structure and her ability to fit lyrical content in such a complex structure.
And in a dramatic showcase of talent, Ella Mae proved to all that she’s got pipes as well when she sang the encore with her interpreter, Gawad awardee, Ruth Regine Reyno.
Pinoy pop diva and guest judge Dessa also delighted audiences with her distinct vocal prowess that raised many a-goosebumps when she sang her version of After Image’s Habang May Buhay.
Fellow guest judge and award-winning composer Jungee Marcelo was grateful for the opportunity to be a part of ASOP and expressed his admiration for the Filipino talent.
